Duck Pond Lesson Plan Spring
Week: 3/23/20-3/27/20—Spring
This is the lesson plan I would use for next week. Spring is the theme! Perfect timing! You may substitute any spring related book for the plan. Go outside, take a walk, and look at all the blooming trees. Listen to the birds. Collect rocks, sticks, pine straw, etc. Our Duck Pond lesson plan is a guideline for our day. The word is flexible! Use what is in your home or outside! Remember this is fun time.! It's not perfect. Just like you, our day can get crazy too. If you can't get to an activity on certain days, do it another day. Remember this isn't homework! Nothing is graded!!!! It's just another tool to help manage the day with your Duck!!!!! Bonus: All these activities are wonderful for older siblings also!!!!
Art Time for Monday is a paper plate flower. Our ducks love finger painting. Paper plates makes a less messy/sturdy art surface. If you don't have paper plates, use paper/card stock/newspaper. If you don't have paints, use markers or crayons. The key to art is fun! The ducks need to use those hand and finger muscles. Once your duck completes their project, let it dry. Once dry, cut plate/paper into a flower. Have your duck place a sticker/pom-pom/cotton ball/paper circle in the middle or the flower. Add a stick or pipe cleaner if you have them on the back! Oh yeah, don't want messy paints in the house? Go outside and paint! Just bring some wet wipes, cloth, paper towel for clean up!
Art Time for Tuesday is a caterpillar. My plan is to use pom-pom balls, school glue, a craft stick, and some google eyes. If you don't have these supplies, don't worry! Cotton balls work! Print out a picture of a caterpillar and have your duck color it! Oh! A wine cork is a perfect caterpillar stamp. Use it as a stamp on paper/card stock with a small amount of paint or stamp pad. Again, art time is flexible!
Art Time for Wednesday is a simple plastic bag green house. If you don't have any kind of seed, a neighbor might have a few. Don't worry if you cannot do this project! Skip it and go to another project! For this project you need a small plastic zip lock kind of bag, a damp paper towel/very lightly damp piece of paper, and a seeds (Any kind of seed will do!). Have your duck place a seeds into the plastic bag. Fold the damp towel & place it in the plastic bag. Seal your bag with a little air in the bag. (Not inflated). Tape the bag to a window that gets lots of light. Soon, the seed will sprout! Once the plant gets a few leaves, transplant it into a pot. Your duck will love filling the pot with soil and watering their new plant!
Art Time for Thursday is Bottle Print Flowers. Supplies: Water/Soda/Sports drink bottle (small or large), paint, small plate, paper or card stock. Have your Duck pick out their flower color. Pour some paint in a small plate. Have your Duck swirl the paint with the bottle of bottle. Now help/guide your duck and press bottom of bottle to paper! Have them stamp it a couple of times. Let dry. Use a marker or paint a stem to the newly painted flowers.
Art Time for Friday is Thumb/Finger Print Bunnies & Birds. Supplies: 1/2 piece of paper/card stock, stamp pad or small amount of paint, thin tipped marker/pen. Have your Duck press the finger/fingers/thumb into stamp pad or paint. Place finger(s) onto paper. Let dry. Add bunny and/or bird details with pen or marker.
Have fun next week! Let me see those pictures!
