More Toddler Activities!

I found this yesterday! I thought it could help!

The Bee says, "Hi"!!!

Since it was Chapel Day, I thought my friends would like to say, "Hi!" to the Bee!! The Bee misses eveyone!!  On our "Up Early from Nap" walks,  we look for our Bee friend (always in a different place in the sanctuary). We always go say, "Hi" to the Bee. The Bee will give kisses to all stroller riders. Then, we sing "The Bumblebee Song"!

Chapel with Pastor Dave!

Join Pastor Dave today at 10:30am on Facebook Live . You join his Facebook Live page through the regular NLC FB page, NLC Active in the Neighborhood page, & the St. Andrew's Presbyterian Facebook Page. Make sure to tell him. "HI!".

Monday--NLC Sports Day!

Did everyone get out & do something super fun today? Philip & I took a break from our "Distance Learning ".  I searched in our garage, and brought out something from our fall tailgating season! Cornhole! I'm so out of practice,  but not my son! He beat me good! I didn't have a chance! That's ok. It was a super nice day! Everyone wins! Go Check out the NLC "Active In the Neighborhood " to see what other teachers & schoolmates are doing on this fun themed day!

** Don't forget to checkout Pastor Dave's Chapel Time at 10:30am tomorrow!

Monday's Art Project: Paper Plate Bunny--So simple. Let your duck color (Any color will do. Markers or crayons are perfect!) a paper plate or paper circle. Add ears, eyes, and some whiskers!

Tuesday's Art Project: Egg Mosaic--Another simple but fun project. You will need some scrape paper cut into various shapes. Triangles, squares, & rectangles are the easiest. Cut an egg shape out construction paper, card stock, foam, etc. Depending on their skill level spread glue or use a glue stick on egg shape. (If Duck is able, they can spread the glue or glue stick). Now, have your duck place the different scrap shapes onto their egg. Remember: Your Duck's picture won't be neat like this one.  That's ok!!!

Wednesday's Art Project-Dough/Dough/Dough!--Break out the Playdough! It's time to smash, squish, pinch, and roll! Don't have Playdough? Go make yourself a batch! Lots of homemade playdough recipes on the web! Pick the best one for your family! Have fun making it! Make sure after you and your duck are done, place the dough in an air tight container. Zip-loc bags work just as well!  Playdough too messy for the house you say? Go outside and use your playdough on the patio/deck table!

Thursday's Art Project--Paper Plate Easter Basket. I recommend a thin paper plate for this project. No paper plates? Trace a dinner plate on a piece of paper. Cut out your circle. Have your child paint/color the bottom of plate. Follow the picture on the diagram in regards to cut and fold your new basket. Add a strip of paper for a handle. Great creative! Go use that basket for egg hunts!

Friday's Art Project--Handprint Palm Tree. You will need some green & brown paint, (you may cut a trunk out of brown paper & have you duck glue it on their project!) a medium paint brush, a piece of white/yellow construction paper or card stock. Paint your Duck's hand. Take painted hand and press at top of paper in three connected prints. Have your Duck with your assistance paint a brown trunk that connects they palm leaves (handprints) to bottom of page.

Egg Hunts! Our Ducks love to look for objects! Eggs & Basket/Buckets Hunts are a perfect activity for them. The best part right now? They won't expect a surprise in the egg yet! I do recommend sealing the plastic eggs with tape. Toddlers love to open plastic eggs. After a while, you will have mismatched eggs that won't fit together well!! Place eggs around in a small area of yard.  Let them go to town. Note: Egg Hunts are also an awesome indoor activity! Different hunts in different rooms!

Have fun! Let"s see some pictures of your Duck's creations and activities!

Distance Learning Too.

Just wanted to let you know that I'm not slacking around during this hiatus! I've been busy. In addition to writing this blog, deep cleaning my house, supervising my new home schoolers, researching new fun toddler  activities, cooking more meals than I've made all year, gardening,  keeping up with the Neighborhood, I'm completing some of my required training hours! It takes some time. I hope everyone is enjoying your time and are in good health!

Glow Stick Dancing!

Colt loved Glo-Stick Dancing!

Raining you say? Can't go out? The kids have all kinds of crazy energy? You need a workout?  Crank up the tunes, pump up the volume, turn down the lights, & crack open some glow sticks for some dancing fun! No glow sticks??? Get out those flash lights, old pumpkin flashing lights, your old college strobe lights, or just switch the lights on & off! It's a Wednesday Disco Dance Party!

Sensory Bins!

Plastic fish & nets.

Cars & blocks.

Oooooh! Spaghetti & Eyeballs!

Our Recent St. Patrick's Day Bin of necklaces,  large plastic coins, & foam shamrocks.

Pinecones & Leaves.

Bag of Animals & Ribbons.

You don't need some fancy educational table to make a sensory bin! A box, a large bowl, a large paper/gift bag, a storage bin will do! Use everyday items from your home. Mix it up! Have some for outside fun! On rainy days, create one for inside fun! Use a random selection of your child's toys. Cornmeal or oatmeal makes a fine material for construction jobs! Set up a bubble station. Dress up items!  Kitchen items! A car wash! We have used pinecones & leaves! A word of caution: Just watch the sizes & materials with this age group. Some children put things in their mouths more than others!

Indoor/Outdoor Fun With Cars

Companies now sell toy car road tape. You can order that from your favorite retail outlet. However, you may have some great items to build hot wheels highways. For indoor road construction you may use sand paper. (Just keep it off wooden surfaces!) You also can use painter's tape for road & parking lots on bare floor or carpet surfaces.  In addition,  boxes/cardboard make awesome garages & road surfaces too! Outdoors? Pavers make excellent road services. Use sidewalk chalk for road/lot details. No pavers? Just make road details on sidewalks & driveways with sidewalk chalk.

Surprise Containers

3/20/20--Craft Corner/Surprise Containers

Want to make old toys new again? Need a quiet time activity? Do you have an extra diaper wipe container or Clorox wipe container?  Good!  This simple project works well for home or travel! Surprise Boxes are excellent fine motor activities for young ones.

1. Clean out the container.
2. Let it dry.
3. Use Contact paper or stickers to decorate. (Optional)
4. Add random toys or non-swallowable house hold items.  We have used toys, scrap fabric, ribbons, artificial flowers/leaves, anything!!!!
5. Close up the top and give to child.
6. Toddlers get bored quickly. This is a good once or twice a week activity. Change items in boxes often.
