Take It Outdoors!

Nice day? Take your lessons/activities outside! Children aquire and maintain knowledge faster if the activity is fun! Everything is better is the activity is outside! This student was playing with her magnetic letters on an easel.  Then, she realized the letters would attach to the nearby metal railing. Wow! New activity!

Types of Play Development

Many parents comment on how their child plays with others. Most in the Ducks age group start in Parallel Play but as they grow & mature, move onto Associate Play about the time they're promoted to their next class. Remember, a child has their own play development rate.

Sand/Salt Sugar Trays

Salt/Sand/Sugar trays are great fine motor activities for toddlers & preschoolers.  Just a few household items are all that is needed. The kids can use their fingers, sticks, straws, whatever to practice writing letters/numbers or drawing shapes. For the littlest ones, mound up some wet sand and let them add sticks/straws.

Fine Motor Activity With Recyclables!

A few sticks + a few old spring landscaping containers = a wonderful 20 minute fine motor activity. Plus the usual silliness that comes with playing with containers!
